Steam clean to get rid of water spots or to reshape your hat
If your hat gets wet, shake it off, and allow for it to dry. Then brush clean.
Brush your hat with nylon or a slightly stiff bristle brush to keep the suede looking fresh.
A suede eraser can remove most stains on light colored leathers, move the suede bar in a circular motion to erase the stain. Then brush again.
Oily stains from sweat are typically unable to be removed. Clean with baby shampoo diluted with water and suede brush to omit odors and most oils.
Matted suede can be buffed with an emery cloth or fine grit sandpaper. Grit must match the finish of your hat. 120-grit works well with most suede.
Store your hat in a hat box or with a vinyl cover to prevent dust buildup, odor accumulation and staining.
Felt & Wool Hats
Use steam to shape and clean the hat. For heavy stains, a powdered cleaner may be used.
Using a soft bristled brush, you can lightly brush the top and bottom counter-clockwise

Straw Hats
Use a steamer to reshape the hat.
Keep clean by using just a lightly damp cloth, for extra tough stains you can use window cleaner or straw hat cleaner.
Do not use artificial heat
Prevent hat from getting soaking wet in the rain. If it happens, remove excess water, place on dry surface brim face up and allow to dry.
